We are a travel agency that is dedicated to helping our clients obtain high-quality dental care at more affordable prices. We work with only the best dental practices abroad and help plan every detail of your trip. From your free consultation with our team to our English-speaking concierges available throughout the length of your visit, you will know you’re in good hands throughout.

Why should I choose Smiles Away?

There are several reasons to book with us, beginning with our transparency. Seeking dental treatment abroad can be a tricky business. At Smiles Away Dental Travel we offer no-surprise pricing, so you know what to expect at the outset.  We also keep the entire process easy for you. Free airport transfers, assistance with booking a hotel (with the first night free in some instances) and your companion accompanying you free of charge are just some of the reasons why we provide an exceptional experience.

We also invite you to go to our Awards, Ratings & Reviews page to read about other clients’ excellent experience with Smiles Away!

How do I book my free consultation?

To schedule a complimentary consultation, please call 0800 041 8774 or complete the form on the Contact Us page.

Will someone assist me with the booking of my treatment and travel arrangements?

Yes, a Smiles Away team member will discuss your needs and help develop your travel and treatment plan. Once you confirmed your treatment plan, a dedicated concierge will book travel arrangements (except your flight) and treatments. They will be on hand to assist you at your destination.

What is the process from start to finish?

Please see our Getting Started page, which provides complete details about what you can expect.

Are there any services that Smiles Away does not provide?

We do not book flights. Overseas dental care is easily accessible from many cities in the UK. For more information please see our Flights page.

What do I need to provide in advance?

If you want to receive a treatment plan in advance, we ask you to provide either an OPG or a CBCT scan of your upper and lower jaws.

OPG Scan (X-Ray) – This is a two dimensional x-ray of your upper and lower jaws. Here are three easy options for obtaining a scan.

  • We can arrange this for you upon arrival in Bratislava at a cost of €39. We only need your local dentist to complete a referral form which we can email to you upon request.
  • Your local dentist should be able to refer you to the radiology department of your local NHS hospital. The cost will be in the region of £50.00.
  • You can visit one of the CT Dent scanning centres in the UK. To obtain a scan your dentist only needs to register on their website. The cost is £50-70. They have clinics in London. Colchester, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and Nottingham. Their Liverpool location is opening soon.

CBCT Scan (X-Ray) – A CBCT scanner uses x-rays and computer-processed x-ray information to produce 3D cross-sectional images of the jaws and teeth. It is a smaller, faster and safer version of the regular CT scanner. It provides a sharper more detailed image than an OPG with a lower dose of radiation. Here are three easy options for obtaining a scan.

  • We can arrange this for you upon arrival in Bratislava at a cost of €59. We only need your local dentist to complete a referral form which we can email to you upon request.
  • Your local dentist should be able to refer you to the radiology department of your local NHS hospital. The cost will be in the region of £100-£200.
  • You can visit one of the CT Dent scanning centres in the UK. To obtain a scan your dentist only needs to register on their website. The cost is £100+. They have clinics in London. Colchester, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and Nottingham. Their Liverpool location is opening soon.

For your convenience, you can upload your scan/x-ray file within our Contact Us form.

Treatment

How much will I save?

Here’s the best part: with our service, you can enjoy 50 to 70% off of UK prices! And because our prices are transparent, you can feel confident about your decision to book with us. Please see our Pricing page for cost information about the various dental services that are provided.

How does the quality of treatment compare to the UK?

Our affiliated clinics fully comply with European Union standards so you can be assured that stringent standards for quality and compliance have been met. For more information, please see our Quality and Safety page.

Will I know exactly how much the treatment costs before travelling?

Yes, the treatment plan and costs will be agreed upon prior to your visit. Upon examination, if there are unforeseen issues, they will be discussed during your physical exam.

Will I feel any pain?

No, pain management is a top priority. As they have an array of safe sedation options at their disposal, our dentists will do their utmost to ensure that you are entirely comfortable throughout your treatment. Please see our Comfort and Care or Dental Phobias page for more information.

How long will my treatment take?

It depends upon the treatment you are seeking. Implants are a two-step process. Screws are put in first then a second trip is required. Other services, however, do not need a second trip.
Is my treatment guaranteed?
Yes, your treatment is guaranteed but subject to practicing consistent aftercare. If you are getting implants, they have a lifetime guarantee. You will be given a certificate for treatments with the terms, date and period. For additional information, please see Our Guarantee page.

Medical Travel Shield

The Medical Travel Shield Insurance policy is free for all our patients receiving implants (full details here). In the very rare event that your implant treatment is not successful this policy covers the costs associated with a return visit for remedial treatment for both you and your partner within 12 months.

I am a nervous patient. How will you make me comfortable?

We understand that dental anxiety is quite common. Rest assured that your dentist will take great care to help put you at ease. Your dentist can provide nitrous oxide (laughing gas) that can be used during your procedure. You can also choose to have local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia administered so that you can complete your treatment with ease.

Clinic

Who will choose the clinic?

We choose the clinic based upon your requirements and availability.

Do the dentists speak English?

Yes, they most certainly do.

Does the clinic use modern equipment?

Yes, of course. The state-of-the-art equipment used meets European Union standards so you can be assured that you are getting the most modern dental care available.

Are the dentists fully qualified?

Yes, of course. They must be well-qualified in order to practice. Please see the Meet the Dentists page to read about their qualifications.

Can I communicate directly with the clinic?

Yes, you can and many have their own websites in English, but you are not likely to receive the same prices, benefits or guarantees when booking through Smiles Away Dental Travel. Nor will you have our representation and the added layer of security that we provide. Once your treatment is scheduled, your concierge will be your point of contact with the clinic.

Where are your clinics located?

They are in the immediate area (in and around) of Bratislava, Slovakia or just across the border in Hungary (20 min).

Cost

Why does dental treatment cost so much less abroad?

Because employment and operating costs are lower, dental treatment can be provided at a significantly lower cost.

How and when do I pay for treatment?

You will be asked to pay for 50% of the overall treatment costs when you arrive at the clinic. The balance will be payable when treatment is completed.

Should I pay in GBP or EUR by credit card, cash, or bank transfer?

You may pay by credit card or cash. The clinic will charge 3% additional cost/processing fee if you use a credit card. Cash has no processing fee.

Do you have any special offers?

Yes! For more details, please see our Pricing page.

Travelling

Is there someone who can help me with my travel plans?

Yes, a team member and concierge will assist you with your travel plans. Please see Our Concierges page for details about the services they provide.

Will a companion be included in my travel plans?

Yes, but airfare is not included. Please see the Special Offers section on our Pricing page for benefits that your travel companion may be entitled to.

How long should I stay?

However long you wish. A concierge will help you with planning your sightseeing. Please see our Pricing page for special offers.

Which are the closest airports? Are airport transfers included?

The closest airports are in Vienna and Bratislava. Airport transfers are included but are subject to the cost of your treatment. Please see our Pricing page for more information.

What should I bring with me?
